The PUNTACANA Foundation continues to promote art and culture in the area through a program of cultural initiatives for the local community and foreign visitors.
Since 2008, Grupo PUNTACANA has celebrated the Punta Cana Carnival as a cultural event showcasing the main elements of Dominican culture. In 2011, over 20,000 visitors and locals took part in the procession of carnival troupes and floats from all over the country, including Lechones from Santiago, Diablos Cojuelos of Cabral, Robalagallina, the Doctor, and more.
The PUNTACANA Foundation, in partnership with the IGNERI Foundation, also runs the PUNTACANA Art Gallery, a space for promoting local, national and international art and culture, where artists can exhibit their work to local residents and visitors. Since it opened in 2005, the Gallery has held over 60 individual and collective exhibitions.
The Grand Annual Gala Carol Concert at the Basillica of Our Lady of Altagracia in Higuey organized by the PUNTACANA Foundation has been celebrated in early December every year since 1996, with the National Symphony Orchestra and Choir. The event, which marks the beginning of the Christmas season, is another contribution to cultural life in the region.
The PUNTACANA Group is also supporting the construction of a museum, El Museo Altagraciano, in the Basilica of Higuey compound.
