The Grupo Puntacana Foundation Volunteer Program gives you the opportunity to put gain practical experience while contributing to the sustainable development of our community.

Voluntariado de Reforestación y Paisajismo

Melliferous plants contribute to local biodiversity and increase the presence of pollinating agents in the form of bees. Mangroves help protect the coastline against erosion and provide habitat for a wide variety of aquatic and terrestrial organisms. The volunteer will support the maintenance and reforestation of the Foundation’s different nurseries.

Objective:

  • Support the expansion and planting of nurseries in areas belonging to the Foundation.

Job:

  • Transplant seedlings from the nursery to the planting areas, sow new plants and cuttings in the nursery.

CIM (Marine Innovation Center) Volunteer

The Center for Marine Innovation is a state-of-the-art facility dedicated to marine conservation, restoration and management. Opened in 2018, the Center works with diverse partners to carry out research, environmental education, and active management and restoration projects.

Objective:

  • Contribute to the maintenance and collection of data for research in the marine laboratory.

Responsibilities:

  • Cleaning of areas, washing of materials and equipment (nets, tanks, filters), organization and storage of equipment and materials, preparation of fish food, fish feeding, registration of physical/chemical parameters: temperatures, oxygen dissolved, pH, salinity, registration of basic information at the request of the area coordinator (weights, quantities, temperature, others).

Health Volunteer

The health volunteer will support logistical and administrative work in the Oscar de la Renta Pediatric Care Center and in the Verón Public Health Clinic. These facilities support the most disadvantaged inhabitants of the local area, while providing health-related services, talks and training courses.

  • Contribute to the efficient operation of health centers and improve the provision of services.

Community Medical Missions Volunteer

The Grupo Puntacana Foundation carries out Community Medical Missions in association with different organizations.

These missions are carried out in vulnerable communities with the aim of providing specialized and free medical care, as well as the delivery of medicines and preventive health programs. The role of the volunteer is to support logistics and work under the supervision of healthcare professionals.

Educational Volunteer

The Ann & Ted Kheel Polytechnic School is the only community education center in the tourism area that implements a high school technical curriculum. The School also has an intensive English language teaching program and an extracurricular activities program, which complements the students' comprehensive training in values to help them enter the job market.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQS)

Does the Foundation provide transportation, lodging and food for volunteers?

The Foundation does not offer transportation or accommodation as part of its volunteer programs. Food is only offered in some cases when the nature of the volunteer work requires it. Social projects provide transportation for some types of volunteer work, subject to prior coordination with stakeholders.

Will I receive any type of payment for supporting the programs of the Fundación Grupo Puntacana?

No, this is a voluntary work that is not paid by the Foundation. The Foundation only offers limited-payment scholarships for some specific programs, based on a competitive application process.

Can I contribute if I am a minor?

Yes. The Foundation appreciates your help with its enthusiastic youth social and environmental programs. You must complete an authorization form signed by a parent or guardian.

Do I need any specific training / qualifications to volunteer?

You don't need any specific qualifications, just the motivation to help out and do your best. For some projects, such as coral restoration, special requirements will be specified.

Is there a minimum time commitment?

Yes. We ask volunteers to commit between two weeks and one month of service. We will only make exceptions in certain cases for people with a particular level of experience / expertise, depending on each particular program. We expect a minimum commitment of three hours a day and twice a week. For social projects, the minimum is one week and at least four hours a day.

What are the volunteer hours?

Generally from 8:00 a.m. at 4:00 pm. For other programs, schedules will be posted as needed.

Does the Fundación Grupo Puntacana offer any type of certification to volunteer my time?

Yes. The Foundation can provide a letter certifying the number of hours worked or certificates of participation for deserving programs.
